All is well between Anurag and Abhinav Kashyap

By Rachana Sheth, Glamsham Editorial

Recently speculations were rife that all is not well between Kashyap brothers Anurag and Abhinav. The rivalry emerged between the siblings as both of them were chasing the same actor i.e. Ranbir Kapoor for their respective projects BOMBAY VELVET and PROJECT 18. So, when Ranbir gave Abhinav's film (PROJECT 18) priority it was reported that it didn't go down well with Anurag. And Anurag is mighty upset with Abhinav.

However, when we clarified with Anurag, he put an end to the long-time speculations saying, "I am not disappointed with anything. Do you think a decision like making a film can be taken without discussing it with other team members? My film BOMBAY VELVET is not getting postponed. It's happening at the right time. It's a massive film. I have to create the Bombay city of 1960s digitally. And that can't be done overnight."

"Further the dates were adjusting with everybody's plan. Abhinav's script was ready and he was rearing to go," adds the maverick filmmaker.

Ask him if he was ever miffed with Abhinav grabbing the chance and Anurag says, "On the contrary, Abhinav is like a brother who will always say 'bhaiya aap pehle kaam karlo as you are elder to me'. He has always been like that."

Anurag further vouches for his brother and recalls the time when Abhinav stood by him.

"People, today, come to me and commend on my work and my journey in the industry. Had it not been Abhinav I would not have reached this far. The family responsibility, the different emotional responsibilities that you need to fulfill I had none of them as Abhinav took care of it. He just told me pursue what you are pursuing I'll take care of everything. I had not been to Banaras, my hometown, single time in these 8 years. I didn't go anywhere, I didn't attend any funeral, weddings or fulfill any sort of social commitments. I just focused on films. The day DEV D became a hit he said now you take rest I'll make films. So that's the contribution of my brother in my life. People can speculate anything," says the doting brother, Anurag Kashyap.

Meanwhile Anurag is gearing up for his upcoming film GANGS OF WASSEYPUR, which releases on 22nd June 2012.
