The 13th Videocon International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) in partnership with PVR Cinemas recently announced the premiere of Dibakar Banerjee's upcoming release SHANGHAI for the IIFA World Premiere. The movie will be premiered on June 7th, a day before its worldwide release, at Lido Cinemas, Shaw Theatre, Singapore.

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who plays a pivotal character in the film said, "The concept of SHANGHAI appealed to me and I am truly looking forward to the release of the film. IIFA's journey over the last 12 years has opened many doors for the Indian film industry and we feel fortunate that our film will enter that elite list and will be screened at the IIFA World Premiere."

Previous films premiered at the IIFAs over the years include LAGAAN, AANKHEN, PARINEETA, PROVOKED, TRAIN and YUVA.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramesh Sippy, IIFA Advisory Board Member said, "On behalf of IIFA, we are very pleased to showcase SHANGHAI as the IIFA World Premiere film. We are happy to support a passionate director like Dibakar Banerjee and we are sure the movie will score big both with critics and at the box-office. IIFA has always been a medium that broadens the reach of the films it showcases and we are sure that it will do the same for SHANGHAI."

Sabbas Joseph, Director, Wizcraft International Entertainment said, "With the premiere of SHANGHAI, we will set yet another milestone in our endeavors to continue to take Indian cinema to its fans. The 13th Videocon IIFA Weekend will continue to provide the impetus for the crossover of Indian cinema to global audiences and delight the Indian diaspora with the grandest celebration of our cinema."

SHANGHAI, a political-thriller, produced by PVR Pictures, is one of Bollywood's most-awaited releases of 2012 starring Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
